A Day with Merry

I spent a lovely day with my dear friend, Merry. We visited the horse ranch that she volunteers at called The Ray Graham Association Hanson Center Barn.

I met this sweet lady while there. I named her Paddy. We later found out she was a backyard chicken who was given to the ranch because the family who owned her had trouble keeping their hens safe from predators. That explains Paddy's love of humans. She'd probably been cuddled since day one.

Hello!

Merry and her horses. So much love there.

Doing his hair!

His name was Strawberry Shortcake! hahahahaha

Paddy and I.

She's so soft and gentle.

I fell in love.

It's My Birthday!

-2 Chainz and Kanye West

-Soko

-Rihanna

-No Doubt

My first piece of desert in 4 months!  I have truly kicked my sugar addiction for the first time ever!  I was so afraid that by eating this I'd be obsessed with sugar all over again but instead I felt satisfied and do not need more sweets for a while.  But it was a delicious (HUGE) piece of vegan coconut pie.

Thanks for all the love today, friends!

Chicken Card: Day 11

Wowee...I got a smart phone and I took the above photo with it.   I find it very strange that my phone takes clearer photos than my camera...and less editing is needed.

Chicken Card: Day 7

Dropping chickens off all over Chicago! Yesterday I left some at Ground Control in Logan Square. When I was headed to the restroom the owner stopped me to ask, “Are you the one leaving the art?” I was so worried she was going to ask me to stop that I didn’t want to admit it…but I am not much of a liar so I replied, “yes…” and she responded with, “They are so cute! Thank you!”
That made my day…and the delicious vegan wasabi portobello burger!

Honey Bunny on a Cow Pie

Page 11 of my 18 x 24 inch fabric book titled, Farmer Kim and The Feathery Ladies is complete!

"There golden yolks are the outcome of their freedom to roam wherever they choose, enjoying compost, greenery and scratching through cow pies for bugs and larvae."

Honey's foot in a cow pie.

They enjoy eating, greenery, bread, ants, bananas...

...worms, strawberries, noodles, watermelon...

...apples, spiders, broccoli, onions, egg shells...and just about anything!

*They also like (love) dead mice but I thought that would be too graphic...

Page 5 Complete!

Page 5 of my 18 x 24 inch fabric book titled Farmer Kim and The Feathery Ladies is complete!

The little ones!  I see them huddled like this all the time so I had to add them in.

Progress shot.  I cut the fabric out and placed them around before I sewed them.

Embroidering the words.  It's funny, I didn't know that I had been embroidering.  My Gram gave me these hoops and they have made embroidering much easier!

Jake sent me this drawing in the mail!  Dino is thinking "Yup, that's about right...."
